Unformatted text preview: Characteristics of Expository Essays "Setting the Table"- The characteristics that makes this essay expository would be that it informs you about gourmet cooking. They do this by explaining what food you should have, and how to set the table. The type of organization the author used was the Informative Process, meaning his essay involves a step-by-step process. I think the author choose this kind of essay, because they wanted to really inform you of how a French gourmet works, and how it should be set up, and handled. This makes the essay effective because the steps are easy to follow. "A Soul as Free as the Air"- This too is an expository essay because it explains Lucy Stone's life. The organization the author used was time order. It's time order because it explains her life and how she came to do women's rights speeches. I think the author choose this kind of organization because it best explains Lucy Stone's life. This makes the essay effective because you get a true idea of how she became explains Lucy Stone's life....
