Ethan Martinez 1/17/10 A2 IA Research – Compare and contrast the rise of power of Hitler and Pinochet? Kuehnelt-Leddihn, Erik. and Buckley, William F. Leftism Revisited: From de Sade and Marx to Hitler and Pol Pot. Regnery Gateway, 1990. Anton Drexler organized a branch of the Free Committee for a German Workers' Peace on March 7, 1918, in Munich which was unpopular. (149) The seventh member was a certain Adolf Hitler; but he did not like the name of the budding organization and proposed calling it the Social Revolutionary party. (149) Rudolf Jung, who joined these men bringing with him much material and literature from the DNSAP, persuaded them to adopt the slightly reshuffled name of the National Socialist German Workers' Party (NSDAP). (149) Hitler contributed several ideas on foreign policy to the party program, while a teacher and organizer of the Democratic Party from Franconia by the name of Julius Streicher provided some additional, anti Jewish motifs. (150) Because he was born in Braunau, he became fixated with the color brown. The Nazi storm troopers wore brown shirts; the headquarters of the National Socialists in Munich was called the Brown House. (151)
