No Extra Effort 2 As the supervisor of the nurses of the pediatric wing, I must find the cause of the increase in complaints. There are several reasons why nurses have no motivation. One is because there are no rewards for doing anything extra. There is also the fact that there is a shortage of nurses. They know that they are in demand and feel they will not be fired because of this shortage. Many of the nurses will not go against the flow unless it is their job on the line. As the supervisor, I will sit down with each of the employees to see what I can do to improve their workplace. I will find out their grievances and listen to their ideas for solving the problems. I will make sure they know I am there for them and all information will be kept

I will use all the ideas I can, plus offer rewards of extended breaks, movie tickets, dinners, and the like that are approved by the hospital. I will give the staff the incentives that will motivate them to be the best nursing staff in the hospital. I will petition the hospital to offer a nurse of the month and year award with a gift certificate. I want the nurses to remember why they chose this career and to embrace that choice. I want the hospital to understand that nurses are a vital component to the care of the patient too. All this is subject to administrative approval....
