Question 1 A particular microprocessor has a register size of 24-bits. What is the range of signed integers that can be represented using this size assuming 2’s complement? [2 points] Question 2 The same microprocessor represents floating-point numbers using an IEEE 754 like scheme. Assuming that the mantissa can represent a minimum of 5 significant figures (Base-10), determine the range of real numbers that can be represented using this scheme. [2 points] Question 3 Encode the number 2.54 x 10 -16 using the scheme in Question 2. Express your answer in hexadecimal notation. If you are unsure of how to answer this, you may encode using IEEE 754 with a penalty of 1 point. [4 points]
