Business Persuasive Presentation Assignment To: 302 Business Persuasive Presentation Assignment From: Professor Owens Due Date : (as indicated on calendar) Task : Prepare and deliver a 5 minute persuasive presentation—develop a persuasive argument and convince your audience to embrace your topic. You will be allowed to go up to 6 minutes (at 6 minutes you will be cut off by the designated timer in the room—each room must designate a timer). Do not try to memorize. Memorizing a 5-minute presentation is almost impossible and memorizing or reading from notes always distances you from your audience. You can only convince your audience if you deliver with conviction and with passion and if you connect with them throughout your presentation. Location : Teams will be assigned to rooms in the Bridge Hall ELC. Since there may or may not be enough rooms available on a given day, certain teams may have to join teams in other rooms. Assignment Objectives Develop your research, analytical, critical thinking, persuasion, and presentation skills. Situation and Your Role Your audience will be the board of the Yonem Vige Foundation (with assets from $1.5 billion – $2 billion). This foundation is fictitious, but you can assume norms of any foundation of comparable size, established by a family to pursue its philanthropic goals. In this case, the Yonem Vige Foundation supports educational programs, schools, and libraries in North America, Central America, and South America. The foundation lost 30% of its assets in the recent stock market fluctuations, which deeply impacts its ability to give. The foundation has also benefited from the “best” financial advisors, planners, and bankers. However, board members are very dissatisfied with the portfolio results. Since this foundation focuses education and since the board is comprised of business people, educators, and community leaders from the regions they serve, they have decided upon a new course of action. Instead of just listening to their advisors, they decided to “tap into” the creative energy of college students at some of the most prominent schools in the regions they serve
