To: Students From: Professor James J. Owens Due Date: (as indicated on calendar) Subject: Interview and Focus Statement Practice for Success Assignment You will practice interviewing in the ELC. You will be recorded and you will have the opportunity to review the tape. The Interview: Each person will have 10 minutes to interview. The Interviewee: Set the stage before you begin by naming the company and the title of the job you are interviewing for. (This is NOT part of the interview—you set it up and then you pause—and then you start the actual mock interview.) You will behave as you would in an actual interview and answer questions accordingly. The Interviewer: Each person (depending on numbers of people in the room) will play the role of Interviewer. Timer: We have limited time. Designate a Timer in the room and make sure no one exceeds 10 minutes. The Questions: The Interviewer will first ask the “Tell me about yourself” question. The Interviewer will then choose questions from the “Initial Questions” list. If
