1 ELEC5403- Radio Frequency Design LAB 5- Microstrip Filters Lab Objective. Design, construct, test and evaluate the performance of microstrip filters on standard FR4 printed circuit board, or equivalent material, at RF/microwave frequencies. Use PUFF or other simulation software whenever possible to check your work. The filter to be designed and constructed is a: (a) Lowpass Filter OR (b) Bandpass Filter General . All measurements require a 2-Port calibration on the network analyzer across the entire bandwidth of the system. Design and modeling will be done using PUFF/Microwave Office. The range of impedances should be limited to between 20 – 100 ohms. For each filter a 50-ohm microstrip line should be designed on FR4 printed circuit board. Assume a dielectric constant of 6.15. Use a frequency of between 700MHz and 1GHz. for both filters. Lowpass Filter . 1. Using Richards Transformation and Kuroda’s Identities design, construct and test a Butterworth low pass filter that has an attenuation of 20 dB and a corner frequency
