Miles Kirksey Mrs. Baker Pre-Calculus 25 February 2010 Leibniz Throughout his life Gottfried Leibniz embodied the ideal of a Renaissance man. He had a mastery in a wide range of topics. Leibniz chose to pursue many different career fields during his life and he was considered as one of the best in each of them. Leibniz was recognized as a successful philosopher, scientist, politician, and historian (Wikipedia, para. 1). Although he did all of the following, Leibniz is most renowned for his work in mathematics and technology. Gottfried Leibniz was born on July 1, 1646 in Leipzig, Electorate of Saxony (Encyclopedia Britannica, para. 1). Leibniz was born to Friedrich Leibniz and Catherina Schmuck (Wikipedia, para. 2). Leibniz’s father was a professor at the university of Leipzig; however, he died when Leibniz was only six years old (Encyclopedia Britannica, para. 1). This would be a blessing in disguise for young Leibniz. Throughout his lifetime Friedrich Leibniz had acquired a vast library and upon his death the library and all it’s content were left to young Leibniz.
