Objective This  paper  directly  addresses  the  issue  of  setup-cost  reduction  programs,  with  the  understanding  that  it  implies  setup-time  reduction.  The  results  apply  not  only  to  production  decisions  but  also  to  pure  inventory-ordering  decision  in  which  setup  time  is  all  the  time  involved in preparing and receiving an order.
