Technology Implementation 2 Introduction New technologies can be compared to new machines, for example, before using a new machine, one will have to read an instruction manual before using the new machine. The same principal can be applied to using new technologies. Doing so will ensure that the new technology will be effective and will have a high productivity level within the field the new technology is being used. The new technologies that are being created today are to make work easier for humankind. New technologies make services faster and give services a higher quality. New technologies also create competition, which creates a wider market that will benefit consumers. Therefore, consumers will want the best technologies that their money can buy. If a business wishes to survive in the business world of today, the businesses must be willing to compete in a growing market, and they must be willing to adapt to new technologies to be able to meet the wants of the consumers. Meeting Demands All organizations, regardless of what field they are in, are taking steps to adapt to new technologies to be able to meet the public needs. Organizations in the business world today would be outmoded and not adhered to as much without the use of new technologies. The previous statement is based on the fact that the society of today is technologically oriented. However, an organization should not invest on every new technology that is released. Today, an organization must make wise choices in the investments that it makes in technology. “Technology companies live and die from investing in the right product cycles” (Foroohar & Vencat, 2006, p. 32). The previous quote simply means that with the development of new technologies, organizations that invest in the new technologies during the right time and place are going to advance ahead of the organizations, which are not adapting to the new technologies

Technology Implementation 3 that are being released. One example is the internet phone displacing the mobile phone. Internet phones are faster, cheaper, and are more accessible to the majority of the public than mobile phones are, especially in Europe. This can especially be observed by looking at Vodafone, which is a provider of mobile phones that lost profits of 17% in 2006 because of the internet phone company named Tesco (Foroohar & Vencat, 2006).
