American Airlines 2 American Airlines Diversity Action Plan American Airlines is the world’s largest airline provider. American Airlines serves 260 cities with 0ver 4,000 daily flights in 40 countries. As a founding member of the One World Alliance, American Airlines brings together some of the biggest and the best names in the airline industry. The One World Alliance is able to provide services to nearly 700 destinations in over 140 countries. To better serve its customers better, American Airlines provides AA.com, a website that provides valuable information, regarding the services they provide. American Airlines focuses on providing a line of communication between the airline supplier and its customer, in order to provide for better service. American Airlines has established advisory councils that are dedicated to serving the women travelers and has advertising focused on the Hispanic and African American markets throughout the world today. American Airlines supplier diversity depends on providing opportunities and visibility to women and minority owned small businesses. The multicultural passenger base worldwide has a significant impact on the trends involving the airline globally. Diversity is beneficial to both American Airlines as well as its passengers. Diversity is not about the differences among groups but the differences among individuals. In the workplace, American Airlines employees are interdependent, by being interdependent employees respect individual differences and this can lead to increased productivity within the workforce. Diversity in the workplace can reduce lawsuits and increase marketing opportunities. In today’s world, creativity and flexibility are the keys to competitiveness: which is why diversity is crucial for a business like American Airlines to survive. More recently, American Airlines has focused on the needs of women travelers by providing tailored travel information portals as well as more female friendly services. The

American Airlines 3 customers are invited to offer input on community concerns and program concepts that may promote growth within these groups. A fully integrated approach is essential in fostering a connection to the ever changing ever-changing customer and employee base throughout the company. Today women make up the majority of air travel customers throughout the world and catering to their needs is vital in staying competitive in the air travel industry. Their success is dependent up on the supplier’s ability to be price competitive in the by providing a quality product or service and delivering that product in a timely manner. (Black enterprise,June,2005) Diversity and its Role within the Airline American Airlines offers their employees 15 Employee Resource Groups. These groups show the different varieties of communities that can be found among American Airline’s diverse employee population.
