Ashley Burch February 21, 2010 Unit 2 DB Should we hold people in certain professions to higher standards of legal accountability and responsibility? -Yes, mainly in professions where their services are for the public. Some instances stick around forever. If a judge or jurors make the mistake to sentencing someone to life for a murder that they did not commit and later on down the line they are proven to be innocent, they can't get all those years back spent in prison. I think this definitely applies in the medical field; sometimes I feel doctors don't do as much as they can to save a life but that could also go another way, a doctor can try to do too much to cure an illness and the person ends up overdosing. There will always be a situation that occurs in which a professional must know the appropriate action to take.The public expects professionalism to be shown in ones behavior and their responsibility to abide by the law and guidelines that are established for them that seperates professionals from public.Not only should
