Retrieved from This article focuses on how the drug addicts in china receive compulsory drug treatment to help them deal with their drug dependency. Drug users who are not given any legal choice to avoid and/or leave care or treatment. Firstly, it presents specific problems related to their drug dependency, such as motivation problems or the need for treatment to maintain their abstinence. offenders instead receive compulsory drug treatment to help them deal with their drug dependency. Drug users who receive three or more citations from the police are placed in compulsory drug treatment institutions for two years. Overall, for drug addicted offenders, no matter whether they commit serious or minor crimes, rehabilitative policy and practice should consider both their criminal behaviours and their drug dependency. These institutions mainly practice two types of treatment: vocational training which is used to alter drug users’ behaviour patterns and help them learn new living skills, as well as educational activities which include education about drugs and the harmful effects of drug use, independent living skills, and psycho-educational training Anti-Drug Law of the People’s Republic of China. Therefore, it is time to allocate professional social workers, counsellors, or therapists to prisons and compulsory drug treatment institutions. This is a good addition to my research assignment because I can grasp more information of the ongoing rehabilitative policy and practices happening in other countries. In conclusion, Compulsory drug treatment is in many ways similar to imprisonment. However, both compulsory drug treatment and imprisonment fail to prevent drug relapse. More efforts should be made to deliver post-institutionalization programmes to help inmates stay away from drugs and crime.
