After the Middle Ages, from the 16 th  century to the beginning of the  20 th  century, there was a great change in attitude towards the relations  between the sexes in Europe. In the 16 th  century, an increase in the feeling of  shame surrounding human sexual relations can be found. The inequality  between men and women had existed for several centuries. Thanks to the  socio-economic transformation brought by the Industrial Revolution in the 19 th  century, this inequality became narrower and narrower with the rise of social  status of women. In the mean while, some conflicts between men and women  also arouse. In the 16 th  century, the women had little or even no respect.  Extramarital relationship of men was not allowed, but could be found at that  time. Also, for instance, the procession of a wedding customs into the bridal  chamber was led by the men, but the bride was undressed by the bridesmaids
