Gina Acevedo  Bus 101-08 3/1/08                                           “The Case of Avco Environmental” Chantale faces a conflict of interest when she discovers an unethical  disposal practice at the company she works for. She could continue to research the situation and report her findings to  the Human Resources manager. o Advantages It would give her an opportunity to be fully aware of her  company’s procedures and actions when it comes time to  reporting her findings. It’s her HR manager’s responsibility to help guide and  maintain a socially responsible and ethical work  environment. Her HR manager would be able to assist her in regards  of who to report her findings to within the company  without fear of losing her job. o Disadvantages The HR manager might have the same responses as the  first two supervisors. If Chantale is unaware of her rights as an employee, she  runs the risk of being bullied by her superiors into not  pursuing her complaint. Chantale also runs the risk of being misled by her HR
