COURSE SYLLABUS – TRANSITION TO ONLINEPOLS 2302 – Spring 2020First things first: Good luck to everyone as we transition from on-campus to online education. I will very, very much miss seeing you all. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have questions. TOGETHER WE WILL MAKE IT THROUGH THIS STRANGE AND UNIQUE TIME IN HISTORY.The course will continue to use the Detailed Course Syllabus provided to you the first day of the on-campus course and contained in your course Blackboard. This transition syllabus supplements the original syllabus with important information needed to complete the course online.1. RESPONSE TIMESYou are welcome to contact me via Blackboard but I would prefer and most frequently check my Lamar email at [email protected]Lamar University emails will be checked multiple times per day (including weekends) and Blackboard messages will be checked at least three to four times per business day. Students requiring a more immediate response should contact the instructor via [email protected]. Exam grades will be calculated as soon as you hit "submit" on your exam. The written assignment will be graded using a rubric provided to you through the course Blackboard system. All grades will be posted on Blackboard in the gradebook. For more detailed assessment of the written assignment, please email theinstructor for a copy of your written assignment with instructor’s comments. Specific questions regarding the grading of the written assignment should be sent to me. Final course grades will be uploaded to the Lamar University Self-Service Banner system. Grades will be uploaded by the grade deadline (possibly before); however, Lamar University may not allow you to view the grades until after the deadline has passed. Individual grade questions should be sent to the instructor. 2. EXAMINATIONSWe have already completed Exam 1 and Exam 2 and two examinations (Exam 3 and Exam 4) remain for completion. Students have the option of taking the examinations online or on-campus. Online examinations– Students are strongly encouraged to take the examinations online. Students taking the examinations online must have a laptop with a camera since the university requires the Proctorio proctoring system to be used during testing. A guide to Proctorio and online testing is contained at the conclusion of this document. Both exams will open on March 30. Exam 3 will close at 11:59 p.m., April 1 and Exam 4 will close at 11:59 p.m., April 27, per the deadlines set forth on the original syllabus. Students may take the exams at any time before the respective deadlines and may therefore have an opportunity to complete the course early.On-campus examinations – I will do my very best to provide students an opportunity to take theexaminations on campus since some of you may not have the equipment and training required for online testing, and because you registered and paid for an on-campus (not an online) course. Students opting to take the examinations on-campus must register with me to take the examinations on April 1 (Exam 3) and
