TJ Thomas English 102 February 15,2008 Rebuttal 6: “Mexico City debuts women-only buses” Opinion: The right to commute to one’s place of work free of harassment and lewd gesturers would seem to be an inherit right for citizens of any country. Particularly, for women the physical capabilities to ward off any un-wanted advances is rather difficult and does not pose a great threat to the perverted men that seem to prey on their fellow bus passengers. The concept of having female only buses seems like a great idea especially in a city that’s population is busting at the seams. Having pink-clad ladies buses is an idea that has worked successfully in many other major metropolitan cities around the world. Mexico’s advances to create a more comfortable transportation system should be applauded. In a country that a great majority of individuals may not posses the economic means to purchase a personal vehicle, the right to safe public transportation. Overall, there seems to be a complete lack of respect for women in Mexico City. I do believe that
