Apple, Inc. 2 Abstract The goal of this paper is to collect both primary and secondary data using the Internet and other resources to further confirm our position as set forth in our opportunity analysis paper, and assist in creating a marketing model for Apple desktop computers. Team A will discuss the data’s impact on Apple’s market share, as well as how the data was collected, and what measures, if any, were taken to confirm the secondary collected. Our intent is to collect indisputable, factual data in which to base our team’s recommendations on.

Apple, Inc. 3 Apple Corporation’s Strengths and Weaknesses Apple’s desktop computer sales have never been considered “stellar,” but it has, with the advent of the iPod and iPhone been a frontrunner in personal electronics technology and sales. Apple started out as “just” a computer company, but has found diversification a means to increase its market share in other areas, where the desktop computer segment has failed. Team A will collect data on Apple’s past performance, and analyze if Apple might be able to use its success in the personal electronics segment to bolster other waning segments such as that of its desktop computer sales. Apple’s Performance In The Stock Market Team A decided to report on the performance of the Apple Corporation in the past and its stock development. As a basis for research Team A chose to work out a recommendation for Apple’s management to use the media hype of the iPhone to increase market share, specifically in the desktop computer segment. Since the start of our project Apple’s stock has increased in the stock market and is showing tendencies of an upward trend. According to USA Today (Graham, June 19, 2007), This research was conducted online by entering “Apple” “IPod” Sales in the library data search of University of Phoenix. The article was published by USA today. Apple states that its iPhone sales hit 270,000 in the first 2 days and claims it will be on track to sell 1
