Healthcare operations management is a skill that integrates scientific principles of management to determine the most proficient and best methods to deliver and support patient care. In hospitals most positions are roles that involve execution and coordination of operations. In this paper I will define operations management, briefly describe the roles and goals of health care operations managers and which role is most important and why. Operations management Operations management may be defined as the design, operation, and improvement of the production system that creates the firm's primary products and services, or as Chase, Jacobs & Aquilano (2006) state "operations management is about getting the day-to-day work done quickly, efficiently, without errors, and at low cost."
