Student ID# 703708398 Life Science 2 Section 2A T.A.: Dayo Oluwadara October, 7th, 2008 Introduction to Scientific Methodology I. Introduction : Science is a practice of gaining knowledge of nature. To do so, we will have to use the scientific Methodology, which is methods that are designed to gather, analyze, and interpret the information about nature. There are many kinds of method to do scientific research, but they are in common about some general purposes such as: to introduce and use a scientific method; to introduce and practice using simple statistics; and to learn how to write scientific report. In today lab, we will be using the t-test based on MIT (Memory Interference Test) ‘s database to deduce some conclusions about variety kinds of subjects such as: the relation between male and female in memorization, the length of sleep and memorization, or stimulant doses and memorization, etc. Hypothesis: The students with 8 hour-sleep perform the PMIT (Picture Memory Interference Test) better (have more correct answers and less response time) than those students with 7 hour-sleep. Null-hypothesis: The students with 8 hour-sleep perform the PMIT (Picture Memory Interference Test) equally or worse than those students with 7 hour-sleep. II. Materials and Methods
