TJ Thomas English 102 February 6, 2008 Rebuttal 4: “Myspace stalls on safety” Opinion: Myspace’s idealistic goal of safeguarding their social networking website could easily be classified as wishful thinking. In a perfect world there would be no dangerous people on the streets, and definitely no predators on the Internet; “stranger danger” would be an unknown term. Unfortunately, in the society we live in today the daily advances in technology lets individuals with malicious intentions covertly pursue their prey. The computer screen let’s people create a different version of themselves that is most desirable. Inherently, Myspace pages are tangled in lies. The naive attempts to restrict younger users are easily defeated by teens that simply pick an earlier birth year on the drop down bar. It does seem nearly impossible to monitor and restrict younger users from accessing Myspace, however, the concept utilizing the verification of driver’s licenses discussed in the article does seem to suggest one way to alleviate the problem.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
