TJ Thomas English 102 February 4, 2008 Rebuttal 3: “Adderall abuse on the rise” Opinion: Out generation has moved to a more accessible and almost more acceptable form of drug abuse. No longer do students have to covertly contact individuals with illegal substances, instead they can simply open the nearest medicine cabinet. Prescription drug abuse is the new rage. Particularly, popular among college students is the drug Adderall. With all the pressures of college academics Adderall provides an easy way to cram for the next final or write a lengthy term paper. I too have felt the weight of a heavy course load and have seen many remedy their fears with Adderall. The ease of simply contacting a friend with a prescription guarantees an individual several hours of concentrated study. I do believe there is a problem with prescription drug abuse, particularly with painkillers, or anti-depressants. However, the casual use of Adderall does not alarm me quite like other forms of prescriptions. If a few times a semester a
