The Determination of Conservation of Momentum and Energy of an Elastic and Inelastic collision of Two Masses (0.5008300kg ± 0.0000005kg and 0.4817900kg ± 0.0000005kg) On Sparktable With Frequency 50Hz ± 1Hz in Two-dimensions Abstract: It was found that Methods and Materials: The experiment was carried out on an essentially frictionless sparktable, a flat-surfaced table on top of which carbon paper was taped. The sparktable was connected to a frequency generate and an air pump which supplied air through tubes and into the two air pucks placed on top of the sparktable (See Figure 1). One large, rectangular sheet of paper, onto which the motion of the air pucks would be marked, was placed on top of the carbon paper and taped using masking tape onto the surface of the sparktable. The masses of the air pucks, labelled M 1 and M 2 , were measured on the scale and recorded in Table A (page 2). M 1 was placed at the close end of the sparktable, and M 2 was placed in the middle of the sparktable. The sparktable was carefully levelled and after a few trial runs, M 1 was launched at M 2 at a slight angle. The air pump was turned off and the air pucks were removed from the sparktable. A piece of gauze was wrapped around the sides of each air puck using a rubber band. The new masses of both air pucks were measured on the scale and recorded in Table A (page 2). The sheet of paper with the markings from Trial 1 was removed and replaced with another clean sheet of paper, which was taped using masking tape onto the surface of the sparktable.
