Murdock 1 Zak Murdock Mrs. Jacobs Honors Eng. 11 29 November 2006 An “ A ” for What? Tuesday, November 21, 2006 began as a normal day for me. However, when I arrived in homeroom I began to receive curious stares from my homeroom peers. It was then I realized the scarlet “ A ” I was bearing on my chest. When the curious stares turned into questions, I replied that I have sinned and am an adulterer. To those who were still waking up and unintelligible at the moment, I had to explain what an adulterer is and the purpose of wearing the scarlet letter in relation to the novel. After answering numerous questions about why I was bearing a scarlet “ A ” on my chest, I anxiously awaited the bell to leave and walk down the hallway, in order to see how many more people would curiously stare at me. While walking to my first period class I came to realize that I was not the only adulterer in the school, there were a number of other students bearing the same letter as I bore. After arriving in my first period class, I once again had to answer the same
