Zak Murdock Pd. AB 5-16-07 The Glass Menagerie Ending Tom has been gone for some time now, and he has not heard nor spoke to either Laura or his mother, Amanda. Throughout his time away from home, Tom as traveled far and wide, however he has not found happiness. He is now at the point where he has given up hope for happiness and he feels as if it is time for him to return home and apologize for leaving like his father. Tom has also not been able to stop thinking about Laura and how horrible he feels for leaving her there. Ten years have gone by and Tom has been lonely for all of them, but now he has finally arrived home and his uncertain how his sister and mother will react. As he starts up the fire escape, he notices something different about his old house. He does not know what it is, but there is definitely something different. As Tom reaches the top of the fire escape, the door opens. “Can I help you?” says a lady who is neither Amanda nor Laura. Baffled to see this lady in his home, Tom responds with, “ Who the hell are you?”
