Zak Murdock 10-31-06 The criminal justice world consists of five main types of laws. Criminal law deals with crime and the legal punishment of criminal offenses. Where as civil law deals with the disputes involving accidents, contract disputes, and other private matters between private parties. Criminal law is one of which is of major concern to the public. It includes all cases that deal with robbery, assault, rape, and other offenses that may harm the public. On the other hand civil law mainly focuses on the private matters between private parties. Case law also known as the law of precedent, is the body of judicial precedent built on legal reasoning as well as past interpretations of statutory laws and past experiences. Case law serves as a guide for much of the decision making in the courtroom. Administrative law refers to the regulations that the government has created to control the activities of industry, business, and individuals. Examples of administrative laws include tax laws, health codes, vehicle registration laws, building codes, and restrictions on pollution and the disposal of waste. Administrative laws also cover practices in the areas of customs, immigration, agriculture, manufacturing, and
