Commitment, Pride, Unity , and Toughness are shown throughout Disney’s Miracle. The United States Hockey team has never been anything to talk about until they ended their losing streak to the number one Soviet Union team, en route to a gold medal in Lake Placid during the 1980 Winter Olympic games. Herb Brooks took a team of amateur college hockey players and turned them in to champions. He was doubted by almost everyone and no one thought a team of amateur players could ever match up to the talent of the rest of the world especially the Soviets. However, Herb did not doubt his team he stated that he chose every player for a specific reason and had his team picked before the first day of tryouts was even over. He received a lot of criticism for not choosing the best players, but he did not change his mind. Herb told the team, “ I am not going to be you’re friend, I’m your coach, if you want a friend talk to doc or Coach Patrick.” This shows how serious he was of winning the gold and how tough he was
