S.Sinem Esen 6 April 2010 HUM 206 Dr. Deniz Tarba Ceylan Tartuffe by Moliere In Moliere's comedy Tartuffe, the comedy takes place at Orgon Family's household and the plot keeps the reader interested and aware. The play do not focus on Tartuffe, but on Orgon's blind belief, trust and love to Tartuffe. Except Orgon and Madame Pernelle (mother of Orgon), everyone in the house is aware of Tartuffe's fraud. Tartuffe easily achieves power on every decision of Orgon, because he is naive and gullible, believing in everyword of Tartuffe and his honest character. However, Orgon’s view on Tartuffe changes by a simple game, Orgon hiding under the table and hearing words of Tartuffe saying that Orgon could be easily hoodwinked and this results with Tartuffe's removal from the house. The play fits in the concept of comedy, because rather than the tragedies that we have read so far, Medea and Macbeth , it differs with some comic elements. Firstly to start with the hero and the title characters, both in Medea and Macbeth also the titles of the plays, the hero and heroine are the ones who deal with problems, but in Tartuffe, rather than himself it is Orgon who is the hero and Tartuffe is the villain.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
