Is the industry concentrated? The competitors in the jarred baby food market are the Gerber Product Company, Heinz and Beech-Nut whom practically dominate the industry. Gerber is the industry leader enjoying 65 percent of the market share while Heinz and Beech-Nut come in second and third place with 17.4 percent and 15.4 percent share respectively. The industry is highly concentrated because we can find Gerber products in 90 percent of all American supermarkets where as the concentration for Heinz product is mostly found in northern New England, the Southeast and the Deep South.
