Antoine Ngoupou MBA 504 Dr. Michael Barry August 19, 2009 Asian Financial Crisis What is the difference between a fixed exchange rate regime and a flexible exchange rate regime? How does a central bank keep the fixed exchange rate fixed? What are some warning signs the world had (but maybe missed) before the Financial Crisis began? Some warning signs that world had before the financial crisis began was the financial instability and the invulnerability of major financial international financial system. Before the Asian crisis began, there was debt deflation in the United States which was followed by the EMS crisis in Europe in 1992 – 1993, that crisis was followed by the Mexican crisis of 1994 – 1995. Why might people have missed the warning signs? Or in other words, why were investors so optimistic in investing in these Asian countries? The reasons why the previous crisis were overlooked and why investors decided to invest in Asian countries was due to the fact Asian economies had been held up as examples of prudent
