Discussion Week 4 Handout Answer Sheet: -Immunoglobulin fold: all B protein fold that consists of 2-layer sandwich of 7 antiparallel B-strands arranged in two B-sheets. -Macrophages are nonspecific and do not react to presented antigens. They are activated more aggressively by T cells and attack cells in the local area of activation. They act as the clean up crew in the body and remove debris as well as dead cells. T cells are specific and can recognize antigens being presented to them. 1. cell mediated vs. humoral 2. False, humoral deals with B cells reacting to antigens and producing antibodies. 3. False, cell mediated response deals with MHC proteins. Nonspecific Immune Response: 1. Humoral deals with toxins, free flowing virus or bacteria that are extracellular. 2. The B-Cell is first in the nonspecific form and has its antibodies bind to the antigen. Then the B-Cell that successfully bound to the antigen will proliferate and produce more antibodies of that particular sort. The antibodies act as markers
