Case 11 Hon Hai/Foxconn, Taiwan The largest manufacturing firm in Taiwan is Hon Hai Precision Industry Co, which started in 1974, selling plastic dials for black/ white TV with an initial capital of $7,500. It is the largest firm in electronic manufacturing service (EMS) in the world today, with annual sales $78.8 billion in 2008, and a labor force of 550,000. At Lon Hua, Shengzhen, China near Hong Kong it has an industrial park with 270,000.workers, alone. Its rapid expansion is similar to other EMS firms but it has a profit margin larger than all others. Its rise shows a number point of conventional wisdom are wrong.
