ISCI 2002 5E Instructional Lesson Plan Martya Chambers Lesson Title Grade Level Third Grade Georgia Performance Standard: S3L21.Students will recognize the effects of pollution and humans on the environment. Explain the effects of pollution (such as littering) to the habitats of plants and animals. Compare and sort materials of different composition (common materials include clay, cloth, paper, plastic, etc.) or Use senses to classify common materials, such as buttons or swatches of cloth, according to their physical attributes (color, size, shape, weight, texture, buoyancy, flexibility). Instructional Objective : Compare and sort materials of different composition by using sight and touch. The Learning Plan: The 5-E Model ENGAGE: Start this lesson plan by giving the students 5-6 different swatches of material (cotton, velvet, tweed, plush, wool) with different patterns and ask them to observe the swatch closely.
