Steven Sanchez Wine Making in Oregon Wine has been especially popular in he United States, primarily the Northwest in states such as Oregon, California, and Washington. Oregon which doesn’t seem to be a state which would produce wine, has been known to have made a large reputation for itself. Oregon produces wine throughout the country and internationally. Wine producing in Oregon dates back to over a century and a half ago. The grape growing is very popular and similar to its neighboring states, especially that of California. Grape growing can be dated back to the 1840’s and linked to Henderson Luelling. In the early 1900’s, wine production slowly came to a halt due to the Prohibition and the competition with its neighboring state, California. Later in years, it slowly became popular once again. In the mid 1960’s, wine production became popular once again. Some of the more famous grapes which were grown were Reislings, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Cabarnet Sauvignon.
