Final Question 2 Bentham Karl’s actions were the result of miscalculation Humans aren’t bad they are just misinformed Karl didn’t CHOOSE to act against ethics; he miscalculated what was most ethical. His actions during the war, thus, become a mistake rather than a deliberate wrong. Within Bentham’s Ethics, Wiesenthal did not respond ethically More quantifiable pleasure would have been created by providing a forgiving or compassionate response to Karl. The most ethical response in Bentham’s system would be to tell Karl he forgives him, creating pleasure for Karl, and then lie to the other Jews telling them that he didn’t forgive Karl, creating pleasure for them. Kant Wiesenthal is presented with two conflicting duties: 1) His duty to preserve the honor and dignity of the Jewish people 2) His to fulfill a dying man’s wish by providing him with a response (forgive or not forgive).

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
