n Maimonides rces of Evil nature does to us sasters, disease other people do to us ral we bring upon ourselves ls caused by oneself through our own action the evils that are ultimately our own fault Epicurus Atomist Life, soul, ect, is a strict arrangement of atoms Non-determinist (believes in chance) His view on pleasure and happiness Ataraxia = happiness Not letting things bother you Happiness is based on the level of personal pleasure that the generate Happiness is greatest pleasure possible, or least pain possible (over time) His belief about the gods Gods to exist, but not as most people believe them to His belief about what is good and to be valued A simple life is to be valued because it will lead to more happiness over time. Avoids the ups and downs. Simple life is closer to ataraxia Death and why it is not bad Fear of death is one thing that causes great pain. As an atomist death is not to be feared because it cannot be experienced
