Gavin Moats Philosophy 205 Professor McIntyre Essay 2 February 23, 2010 I will compare the religions of Christianity and Judaism as they are some of the oldest religions in the world. I will show their similarities and differences. Judaism and Christianity have a lot of things in common; they both date back from biblical times; Judaism when Abraham made a covenant with God 1300 BC, and Christianity after the death of Jesus and became official in 325 AD. Both religions use the Bible, but Jews only use the Old Testament also known as the Hebrew Bible, while Christians use both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament as well. When talking about faith following in numbers Christianity ranks in first place with two billion members, while Judaism ranks number twelve with fourteen million members. Its ironic Jesus is Jewish, which not a lot of people realize, as he was the founder of Christianity. While in Judaism their founder was Abraham. Jews do think Jesus was of importance, but they do not follow him as Christianity does. Jews think that he was born from a
