I chose to research sociological issues from Michael Moore’s documentary Sicko . I enjoy his films because he brings out social problems adding in his dry humor. The film is about the corruption of America when it comes to the healthcare system. As stated in the film, there are 50 million Americans without health insurance and most of the ones with insurance are underinsured. 18,000 people will die each year just from not being insured. It is true that in America there are healthcare programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, along with but even with these programs, it is simply not enough. In the documentary Moore filmed various people who had life threatening conditions and are not insured. It was sad because one man had cut off his middle and ring fingers with a saw and the hospital told him that he would either save his ring finger for $12,000 or his middle finger for $60,000. He chose his ring finger. After this story there was a man who lived in France who had the same accident and he paid nothing. When Moore asked the
