Jordan Berg Art and Anarachy April 16 th 2010 Gilgamesh The Epic of Gilgamesh is story about the voyage of a man who is destined to find the answer to immortality and eternal life until he is forced to accept the devastating reality of death. Gilgamesh is a character who is believed to be divine but on his pursuit he is still confronted with friendship, grief, love and death, which are all experiences faced by the typical human in any society. Although the story was told thousands of years ago, it continues to remain shockingly relevant to modern day civilization. Gilgamesh struggles to find a sense of purpose and begins to seek after the answer to questions concerning death. Five thousand years later, I have sought after the same questions as have millions of others. And although my quest for the answer wasn’t of such epic proportions, it was still composed of similar motives.
