- Can take complicated things and burning them and simple things and burn them to make  a specific set of reactants and products - Kinetics and thermodynamics are very important - In photosynthesis by plants, we have remnants of bacteria called cyanobacteria, that  were engulfed by archeabacteria - When we look at structure of chloroplasts, it seems simple but membranes are complex - Stack of membranes came from infolding of inner membrane - Same kind of membrane as outer membrane - Connection by infolding - Infolding character is different  - Stroma is analog of matrix, in this case, mitochondria - Has the same pH as cytoplasm, where protons are stored for photosynthetic process - Thylakoid space is same as inter membrane space - Invagination creates the inter membrane space, or lumen, or thylakoid space - Stroma- where soluble proteins are located  - Few soluble proteins in thylakoid space, even though it has a lower pH - Chlorofilm is a derivative of a chlorophyll molecule - Similar to dolicole - Long tail reacted with carboxyl group to make an ester linkage to hold chlorophyll to lipid  bilayer - Molecule doesn’t have a metal ion, it has a hydrogen on the back nitrogen
