Study Questions Due Oct. 2 Lauren Napolitano 1. What are the two distinct means of error in relation to surveys? One refers to the precision of the estimate, or the width of the range within which the researcher feels confident that the true value lies. The other refers to factors that affect estimates in a systematic fashion. 2. What are errors in surveys divided into? Errors in surveys are divided into sampling errors and non-sampling errors. 3. What is sampling error? Sampling error is the idea that if the same question were asked in different samples, it is unlikely that the proportion of one answer would be exactly the same in every sample. The difference between these repeated samples is called sampling error. 4. After a certain point, does increasing the size of the same yield less or more precision? After a certain point, increasing the sample size yields less and less in increased precision and is not worth it to take the larger sample. 5. What is margin of error?
