ECN 306 Study Guide for Exam 2 As a general note, the Text tends to deal with parts of certain  issues/concepts/theories in Chapter 13 and other parts of the same  issues/concepts/theories in Chapter 15. Consequently just reading material is  likely to be less beneficial that will efforts to organize the materials for yourself by  means of an outline along the lines below.  Chapter 13. A large part of Chapter 13 covers adjustment mechanisms. You should know the following material: What do we mean by “adjustment”, and what is the difference between automatic and “policy driven” or “discretionary” adjustment mechanisms? Know the basic automatic adjustment mechanisms and the way in which they work. Also, understand what the differences are in assumptions about the macroeconomy that we make in order to explain why a specific automatic adjustment mechanism works.
