MUSIC 120: Review for Midterm #1 Exam date—Monday, October 26 th —IMPORTANT! Bring a mark-sense form and a No. 2 pencil (scantron or “bubble sheets” can be purchased at the University Book Store or in the Hub, the Student Union Bldg.). Additionally, be able to enter YOUR UW STUDENT NUMBER on the mark-sense form. The exam will cover material from lectures, sections, guest presentations and performances, the assigned listening, and the assigned reading. Review the following list of names. Be sure that you are able to connect the following list of composers, librettists, performers, historical figures, and operatic characters to the topical categories that they represent as well as to any compositions or institutions listed below. Obviously, some of the listed names have received greater attention than others in the lectures and assigned readings. Understand the significance of the more important figures in terms of their associated styles, cultural contexts, and representative compositions, etc. [Note: you will not be responsible for giving exact dates, etc., but do know the general timeframe we are talking about—Medieval,
