Design and Implementation of a Bicycle Lamp Logic PROJECT REPORT Objective The purpose of this project implementation was to get familiarized with a few of the basic concepts of Digital Logic Design. These concepts include creating a truth table, implementing Karnaugh Maps, simulating logic design on Multisim software and its hardware implementation. The basic operation of logic gates such as AND, OR, NOT, NAND, NOR and XOR was also covered as a learning objective through this project. Equipment and Software . Basic Logic ICs . Breadboard . Breadboard Wires . Multisim Software . 5V Vcc Source Procedure 1. The first step is to create a truth table consisting of 3 input signals A,B,C with A being the Least Significant Bit (LSB) and C being the Most Significant Bit (MSB) and 5 lamp/LED outputs L1,L2,L3,L4 and L5. This is shown in figure 1. 2. Then, we simplified the truth table by developing corresponding Karnaugh Maps for each output.This gave us the simplified Boolean Algebra Expressions for each output. These K-Maps are shown in figures 2,3 and 4 for each output respectively. 1
3. After having developed K-Maps for each output lamp, we move to the simulation part of the project, using Multisim Software. 4. In the Multisim software, we develop the circuit design implementing Boolean Algebra Expressions from the K-Maps using logic ICs available in the software library. For this design, we used 3 OR and 2 AND logic gates, a 5V Vcc source, ground and a digital input signal.
