Unformatted text preview: Lab 1:Unknown Density from Mass and Volume Displacement The aime: To know the density from mass and volume Material :- 3 unknown metals ( copper, aluminum , iron) .- Weight balance .- Graduated cylinder .- 15 ml water . Procedure : 1- We put 15 ml of water in graduating cylinder and record the volume . 2- We measure the weights of each metal. 3- We measure the final volume by placing the unknown metal inside the graduated cylinder. 4- We find the displaced volume by subtracting the final volume from the initial volume. 5- We divide the mass of the unknown by the displaced volume. 6- We repeat the procedures two or more times for the given metals. 7- We obtain the average density . 8- We compare the density with ( Al=2.7 g/cc , I=7.87 g/cc, C=8.96 g/cc ) Results 1 : Metals Mass Displayed Volume Density Aluminum 16.999 g 8 ml 2.13 g/cm Copper 56.5829 g 8 ml 7.07 g/cmCopper 56....
