W(s) + 1.5 O 2 (g) WO 3 (s) c H = -842.9 kJ mol -1 W(CO) 6 (s) + 4.5 O 2 (g) WO 3 (s) + 6CO 2 (g) c H = -2242.7 kJ mol -1 CO(g) + 0.5 O 2 (g) CO 2 (g) c H = -282.8 kJ mol -1 C(s) + O 2 (g) CO 2 (g) c H = -393.5 kJ mol -1 i) Calculate the enthalpy of formation of W(CO) 6 (s). ii) At 298 K, the enthalpies of sublimation of W(CO) 6 (s) and of W(s) are 75.6 and 849.4 kJ mol -1 respectively. Calculate the mean (W-CO) bond dissociation enthalpy in W(CO) 6 .
