A persons misperception can lead to faulty preparation to current assignments. In written communication, people have to be precise about what they are trying to get across to the receiver, or the sender can expect the message to come across poorly. In a distance-learning environment, giving feedback face-to-face can be different because of interpretation. Face-to-face feedback allows a classmate the opportunity to express themselves through emotions such as sarcasm, humor, or sincerity. Using written communication can extract some of the emphasis used in social interaction.
