Christian church plays a major role in the formation of Europe by providing major services. The services include schooling, Medicare, an inspiration for art and culture. It also played a role in providing moral guidance to the people on how they were to live their lives; hence it affected the attitude of virtue and vice in different fields (Luther,2011). During this period, some reforms took place that aimed at changing some doctrines of the Roman Catholic church, and the result was the formation of protestant churches. They consist of selling indulgences and appointments of individuals who made a contribution to the position of authority in the church. After the fall of the Roman empire, the church was the only social institution that remained that was common to all countries in Western Europe. The gap filled the void created by acting as a dominant political institution that also influenced the consciousness of the population.
