WK 6 - CLASSROOM OBSERVATION PAPER 2 Wk 6 - Classroom Observation Paper Eric Simons likes to tell jokes because an entertaining classroom is a more engaging classroom. Imagine a class where the students cannot wait for the "next episode," even if it airs at 8:00 a.m. This is what he has created. He has gained a lot of ground and learned just how far a few well-placed jokes could go to keep them awake and engaged. Eric Simons is the Art teacher at Aspen Valley Middle School and has been on the teaching staff the longest, but he is so much more than just an Art teacher. He plays the violin, bagpipes, didjeridu, piano, Irish drums, berimbau (a single-string percussion instrument, a musical bow, from Brazil), to name a few. Mr. Simons is not limited to the art that he teaches either. He has taught fencing, Japanese ink painting (Sumie), calligraphy, and foiling. Besides all of that, he is learning to make his own pigments, Capoeira (an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines elements of dance, acrobatics, and music), and Kung-fu. He is the real living embodiment of the lifelong learner and the spirit of if I can do it, you know you can do it.
