377a Chapter 1 Study Questions These questions are designed to help you prepare for the exams. Note, however, that the questions do not cover all of the course material that you are responsible for knowing. Sources of Law When does federal law prevail over state law? When does state law prevail? What is the purpose of the 10 th Amendment? How about the 14 th ? What is the source of statutory law? What is the source of case law? How is the federal court system structured? By what route do cases usually arrive at the Supreme Court? Do the rules made by administrative agencies have the force of law? Can an administrative agency make a rule without a legislature assigning it, in broad terms, the authority to make that rule?
